A California Distinguished School
Welcome to the Peabody Charter School Website!
Message from the Principal - Panther Press

March 11, 2010

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends,

CONGRATULATIONS! PEABODY IS A 2010 DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL!

Full of friendly smiles, helpful knowledge, and enthusiastic pride, eight students started Monday with school tours for the Visitation Team. These school leaders were remarkable: Callie Beaudette (gr. 4), Ari Chittick (gr. 5), Cate Clancy (gr. 4), Connor Egan (gr. 6), Ryan Fidel (gr. 5), Will Fisher (gr. 5), Sara Hawthorne (gr. 4), and Maggie Miller (gr. 6). Then, after a full day of interviews, meetings, and observations, the Visitation Team Leader announced at 3:30 PM in the Science Lab, "It is our pleasure to strongly recommend Peabody Charter School to become a California Distinguished School for 2010!" Thank you to everyone who helped to make the day a huge success. We will receive official notification from the state in a few weeks, but in the meantime, we can be certain that we do have an exemplary school in every way. And although the Team was blown away by everything they saw, I am most proud that they were amazed by the strong sense of caring, teamwork, collaboration, and passion for our school.

Sincerely,

Kate Ford, Principal

PS See you at the Jog-a-thon Friday!

Under dark clouds and a chilly breeze, Peabody Charter School had its Sixth Annual 5K and 10K last Saturday at Leadbetter Beach. A fund-raiser and fun-raiser for the school, the race had its usual fun field with lots of kids for the 5K. The Grand Prix 10K saw Todd Booth as the first male finisher (33:47) and Laura Turner as the first female (39:55). Sixth grader Lara Kostruba was the first finisher from Peabody at 1:07:23. The 5K saw Hung Kiet Tran (the school's tech guru) as the first male finisher, with 9-old Joshua McGregor (grade 4) finishing third overall! Fourth grader Kendra Dayton was the first girl under 10 to finish the 5K at 26:38! The Fun Run was well organized and fun from start to finish! Many thanks to Organizers Garrett Headley and Rayanna Cole Dombroski. Also, congratulations to all of the Peabody families who braved the cold to come out and run, and thanks to the sponsors! (We have beautiful Fun Run t-shirts for just $5 each! Stop by the office or Friday.s Jog-a-thon to purchase!)
