Dear Peabody Parents, Guardians, and Friends,

What a wonderful summer it has been despite the terrible Gap Fire and the price of gasoline! I hope you have found time for rest and relaxation with family and friends, especially with the sunny weather we've been having. Peabody has been a busy place since we said goodbye in June: Camp Kono provided three delightful weeks of singing, dancing, and art; and our own Peabody JUNTOS Summer School staff have been working with almost one hundred students for the past three weeks....they are improving their academic skills and enjoying art classes!
We are very excitedly getting the school ready for your children.s return, and I want to share some important dates and information with you:

-- Class lists have been posted since late June. Kindergarten and grade 6 teachers are completing home visits too!

-- The Open House and BBQ is scheduled for on Thursday, August 28, 4-6 PM! It is a wonderful opportunity to see old friends, meet new ones, visit teachers and classrooms, sign up for volunteer opportunities, AND enjoy a delicious meal! Classrooms are open 4:30-5:30 PM.

-- Enclosed you will find the Enrollment Contract for 2008-2009. Thank you for reading and reviewing it as a family. Don.t forget to sign it and return it toyour child's teacher.

-- You are also receiving the Daily Bell Schedules, Bus Schedule, attendance information, Directory and Media Release, Parent Volunteer Form, the Calendar of Events, and fundraising information. We.re going to be busy this year!

There are other documents and forms that you will receive on the first day of school. Remember, school starts at 8:00 AM sharp on Tuesday September 2!

NEWS!! Please join me in congratulating Casie Killgore, who is now a school principal! We are very sad to see her leave but happy for the children and staff at Franklin Elementary! Here are some of our new staff and faculty members!
